Obituary for Marie José King
Ms. Marie Jose Paulette King, age 72, passed away August 9, 2021 at her home in Southaven, MS. She was born December 16, 1948 in Paris, France.
Marie immigrated to the United States from Toronto, Canada when she was 19, and resided in Albany, New York for the better part of her professional career, raising a daughter whom she then relocated with to Memphis, TN in 2010. She worked mostly as an Insurance Agent and later enjoyed a second job at JC Penny in Men's Accessories, where she was known for her bubbly and flirtatious personality. Marie enjoyed playing cards and BINGO. She lived for her grandchildren and adopted grandchildren whom she cared deeply for as their nanny, and was affectionately known as "MeMe". She enjoyed being a companion, the last years of her life, to a feisty 96 year old woman with whom she truly created a wonderful bond. Her beloved puggle Lola and their long walks made her famous in the neighborhood and kept her active.
She is survived by her only child, Becky (King) Murphy (Matthew), two grandson's Jameson and Oliver Murphy. She is also survived by 4 sisters and 4 brothers, their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews, all of France. Preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Madeleine Laloup.
A small Private Service was held August 31, 2021 at Goodman Oaks Church of Christ in Southaven, MS.
Family requests contributions be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
